Youth Advisory Panel Volunteer 15-20 yrs old- are you interested?

Dear Club Chairs/Secretaries and Head Coaches

Firstly may we take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year.

As you may already be aware, just before Christmas, Swim England North West were promoting, and are currently advertising for young people aged 15-20 years, to apply for a place on our newly launched SENW Youth Advisory Panel.

Applications are being sought from North West Region club members aged between 15 and 20 years who would like to be part of a small team of like-minded individuals who will become a youth voice for the Region.  Applicants should be actively involved in a club either as a competitor (any discipline), or as a club volunteer/official or teacher/coach.

The SENW Youth Advisory Panel will be overseen by SENW staff and a SENW Management Board Representative and will be responsible for delivering projects that promote and prioritise youth engagement within aquatics.

We would be extremely grateful if you could please promote this fantastic opportunity within your club and encourage anyone who you think may be interested to please apply.

Please note, the closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 24th January 2022.

Thank you in advance

Kind regards

Success at National Water Polo Age Group U15s

National Water Polo Age Group Championships Boys U15s

This last weekend saw further success for Warrington Water Polo Club, winning Bronze Medal in the National Water Polo Age Group Championships for 15 and under boys at Ponds Forge Sheffield.  The National Water Polo Age Group is the premier competition for all the water polo clubs and players.

In the preliminary round Warrington played three hard fought games. The first match was against Watford, winning 8-6, with Alex Rix racing down the wing to score 2 goals.  The 2nd match was against West London Penguins another hard-fought match with Jacob Green scoring 3 of the goals from centre forward supported by Sonny Walsh with a couple of assists.  The 3rd and final match of the group stage was even tougher, with Warrington beating Northampton 5-6.

Having won their group, Warrington faced Manchester in the semi-final.  Warrington came up short in this game losing 7-1 to the ultimate winners of the tournament.  This led to Warrington facing Birmingham in the 3/4 play off.

This proved to be the fifth tough game of the day, despite starting strongly with Will McGeehan and Darcy Walsh scoring goals, Warrington trailed Birmingham 4-3 at half time.  After a strong half time discussion Warrington won the second half 6-2, with Jamie Collins making heroic saves in goal and John Wilson, Andrew Collins and Jacob Green scoring at the other end. With the final score 9-6 Warrington claimed their bronze medal, beating far larger clubs in the process.

Mini Polo 13u Tournament

Warrington 13u Water Polo Tournament

Warrington hosted Chester, Liverpool and Radcliffe in a friendly tournament for the 13 and unders on Saturday 20th November at Orford Jubilee Leisure Centre. It was an opportunity for some of the younger players, newer to water polo, to play in competitive matches. A lot of the players have only ever played in a handful of matches, many interrupted by the pandemic. The players made for a fun and exciting tournament that we hope was enjoyed by everyone.

Warrington entered two teams, the Whirlwinds and the Cyclones, for the round robin event. All of the teams played some great water polo, which culminated in two nail-biting matches in the last round. Liverpool and Warrington Cyclones played for third place and Chester Romans and Radcliffe were in the first and second place play off. The Cyclones edged Liverpool in an exciting game for third and Chester pipped Radcliffe in a very competitive game, that either side could have won.

We'd like to thank everyone who made the tournament a success, especially the players for their hard work and commitment. See you at the next one.
