Bridgefield vs Warrington 14 and Under Manchester and District League Match
1st Quarter
The match started at a frantic pace, Luke was called in to action and made 2 good saves. It was Warrington that scored first with a hard near top corner shot from Dominic. Emma and Molly both had a good shots saved. Bridgefield equalised half way through the half. Ben passed to Molly to score Warrington’s second goal. Bridgefield tried an adventurous backhand short that went wide. Conor had a shot well saved and it came back out to Dominic who pushed it over the line. Bridgefield scored another goal to make the quarter end score 2-3.
2nd Quarter
Bridgefield started well in the quarter intercepting a pass, to score to bring the scores level. It took 20 seconds for Warrington to re-take the lead. Ben passed into Dominic who showed good strength to hold of a defender and score on the turn. Luke did a great long pass to Molly who scored to give Warrington a 3-5 lead at the end of the quarter.
3rd Quarter
Bridgefield again started well, scoring in the first 30 seconds. Bridgefield then went close, only being stopped by a good defensive block from Conor. Brett was playing well on the right wing and he was dropping quickly to defend. Bridgefield then had a shot saved on to the bar by Luke. Warrington then went on the attack and brought a good save from Bridgefield keeper. It was then Luke’s turn to produce another good save. The standard from both keepers was very high. Warrington defended well as a unit, dropping quickly to defend deeply throughout the quarter. Dan and Katie both defended well. The quarter ended 4-7.
4th Quarter
Yet again Bridgefield started quickly scoring early to take the scores to 5-7. Conor scored with a long range shot and then Bridgefield replied finding space to score through a packed defence with a long range shot. Bridgefield rounded off a good move with a goal to make a close end to the game, with the score at 7-8. Ben then scored to restore the 2 goal lead, with a shot in to the far top corner, from the wing to make it 7-9. Conor did some great defensive work to get the goal back to Luke when chasing back between two Bridgefield players. Luke had a long range shot which fell a couple of metres short as the match ended.
Match Summary
It is always a hard match when Bridgefield have home advantage. Warrington were put under pressure in what was a hard fought match. They held on to for a 3rd win of the season keeping up their 100% record.
