Presentation Evening Celebrates Success

Presentation Evening Celebrates Team Success

The Warrington Swimming and Water Polo Club held its annual presentation evening on November 19th at Padgate Community Centre. Over 70 trophies were handed out to winners of the Swimming Club championships with ten new record times.

The swim team also celebrated winning the Merseyside and District Division 3 swimming championships and promotion to the Division 2 league. Below are some of the swimmer of the year award winners

On the water polo side the senior men’s team had that afternoon won the Liverpool and District Grade1 tournament, and at the same event our 16u side won the Liverpool and District and Cheshire County trophies. This team had already won the Bolton and District league and Knockout competitions, being undefeated all season so each of the players were able to collect four medals each. They are currently top of the Manchester and District league, with one game to play, so with a team that only has two players at the top of its age group, next season looks like team will have every chance to dominate all these competitions next year as well.

The previous week the 14u side had also won the Cheshire County trophy. Whilst it is great to see so much success we are looking for children in the 10-12 and 13-14-year age ranges who would like to try this great team game and join our water polo squads so we can build on these achievements.

Senior Team Liverpool & District Grade 1 Tournament Winners November19th

The senior team finished second in the Liverpool & District league, the highest position for many years to qualify for the end of season Grade 1 tournament. The first game was a tense and close encounter, with Warrington just edging a 5-4 victory against Chester. In the second game, the team lost focus, after a number of decisions did not go their way, losing

7-0 to Bridgefield. In the last game, the team played much better and won a comfortable victory 8-4 against Liverpool.

Bizarrely in the other games, each team ended up winning one game, losing one game and drawing one game, which meant Warrington were declared winners of the tournament with two straight victories with the other places determined by goal difference,
