Warrington Players take 2nd place at ESSA Cadet Water Polo Northern Final
Players from Warrington SWPC 14&U and 12&U squads returned to Manchester Aquatics Centre on Tuesday to compete in the ESSA Cadet Water Polo Northern Final.
Emily Ireland, Louis Stowell, Marcus Woods, Joseph Weston and Leo Kilpatrick formed the core of a team fielded by Great Sankey High School, and were returning to Manchester after winning the first round of the Northern Competition in May.
Great Sankey started well, with a 6-1 win against St Ambrose. Then drew a tight game against Bolton School 4-4. Next came another win for Sankey, this time against Park Road and a 8-2 result which placed us in the final up against Bolton School once more.
It was a tense and scrappy final with scores kept very close throughout but, despite some great performances from its players, Sankey just lost out to Bolton who won 6-5.
All our young players performed admirably and did their club, their school and their supporting parents proud.
Thank you to Mr Gee and the PE staff at Great Sankey for making this possible.
