Keeping Fit

Keeping Fit

Whilst the pools are closed, it is good to keep fit and active. There are lots of online activities
on YouTube and other social media with ideas on how to exercise at home.  Exercises that use the same muscles and similar movements to those when swimming will help you keep in good shape for
when you can return to the pool. Here are some ideas from Swim England

Creating your own bespoke home training programme

If you play water polo, you can practice ball handling skills (I suggest in the garden), without
the complication of staying afloat as well! Here are some tips for water polo
players

Great Britain goalkeeper Elliot McHugh’s top drills for staying active out the pool

If you find something that is fun, then as a challenge try to do it a bit faster, or for
slightly longer each day. Be sure to do this safely, with a warm up and stretch
and cool down exercise at the end.

If any of you find any good videos or home challenges, let us know and we will share them with the
other club members.
