Courtney and Fiona Dean make RussianTV as Courtney represents GB in U19 European Championships.
Congratulations to COURTNEY DEAN who represented Great Britain in the Women’s U19 European Water Polo Championships in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
Great Britain in the preliminary rounds beat Turkey, Ukraine and Germany, but then was beaten by the eventual winners Russia and Italy. They then progressed to the play offs for 7th and 8th place against the French team. The team drew after full time and finally won 8-7 after a penalty shoot out.
The team have now qualified for the world championships in 2013. Russia were the over winners of the championships.
During the stay in Chelyabinsk the team had a fantastic experience as all the locals wanted photographs and autographs from the Greta Britain Team and they were escorted around by armed guards during their stay.
They attended an ice hockey game and were given a tour of the city which included a tour of a tank museum. The five parents who travelled to watch the team were filmed by a TV station due to the fact no English people had visited the city before.
Courtney said ’ it is strange coming back to reality in England, as we were treated as a famous team whilst in Chelyabinks’
