CHESHIRE COUNTY WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIPS

WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012

Sunday 23rd September

Europa Pool, Birkenhead 12.30 pm

Warrington took a small team of senior players and a young 16 & under team with only one player being 16, two 15 year olds and the rest of the team aged 14 and 13. This was certainly going to be a steep learning curve for our younger players.

The senior players started off well with a comfortable victory over Wallasey but then tough matches against Chester and Birkenhead saw Warrington defeated finishing 3rd out of 4 teams overall.

The juniors who had not played a competitive match all year played a tight game against Birkenhead losing 2-0 followed by a game against Chester who appeared to have some huge 16 year olds. Warrington ended the first half 4-1 down with one goal coming from Josh Regan. In the second half stepped up their game and really looked as a good a team as Chester drawing the half 1-1 with a goal from Sam Cooper.

Warrington can look forwards to next years Championship losing only one player with plenty of talent coming through.
